Wolf River Sturgeon Spawning Update

Dear Winnebago Sturgeon Enthusiasts:

Sturgeon spawning has gotten underway on the Wolf River and we actually handled our first spawning fish today!  Fish are currently spawning at the Sturgeon Trail in New London, Bamboo Bend in Shiocton, and the Pines (spawning site on private property).  There are also some fish at Pfeifer Park in New London and a few other spawning sites on private property.  Our crew was able to tag 47 fish at the Sturgeon Trail and another 61 fish at Bamboo Bend today, and we plan to work both of these sites again tomorrow.  Peak spawning at these two sites will likely take place tomorrow with fish wrapping up spawning there on Wednesday, and therefore I recommend coming out to see fish at these two sites tomorrow and not waiting until later in the week.
