Late fall temperatures set in this week and the first snowflakes of the season flew through the chilly air.
The rivers are seeing the majority of the action currently. The Wolf River from Lake Poygan through New London is producing walleyes consistently, along with some nice sized Crappies. Some of the walleye have had quality size of 25”+. Arrays of methods are being used on these fish including pulling flies, jig and minnow, or jig with Gulp. White bass are also still active, and can be caught at times in quantity. The Winneconne Bridge area is producing “eater sized” eyes consistently. Many more good days on the river are yet to come. Please be very careful navigating the water in the river this year. The water is very low, and unforeseen hazard could end your season prematurely.
Lake Winnebago is seeing little to no fishing pressure on most days, and reports from area fisherman are non-existent. A good chunk of anglers have completed their season on the main lake. Crappies are still being caught on remaining green weeds in shallow bays. Small mouths are active along the Jesuit.
Next report: when conditions change. I will be spending some time chasing salt water fish the next couple of weeks. Please send your local reports to me at [email protected]
