An unusual week of warm weather welcomed many anglers back to the waters this week.  Water temps have dipped to about 60 degrees, and the water continues to be stained.

The Rivers are the best spots for action this week.  The Fox and Wolf Rivers have White Bass staging in preparation for winter.  These fish do not seem to be tightly schooled as of yet, but rather are scattered through out the system currently. The same can be said for the walleye.  Three ways with river flies is the most productive method.

The Winneconne Bridge has seen a lot of action this week, but we did not see many fish being caught.  We did much better trolling large cranks in Lake Winneconne.  Pike are active in Lake Winneconne and Lake Poygan, and are attracted to the larger shad style baits or spinners. There is still plenty of pan fish action in these areas also.  The Fox River in Oshkosh has better white bass action than up river as of Sunday.

Lake Winnebago has been “spotty” according to recent reports.  Fish are also scattered on the main lake, making full live wells uncommon.  Perch can still be found in limited quantities tight to the bottom on 6-9 foot reef tops, especially in the early morning. Small minnows are drawing interest by hungry perch and white bass.  Overall, small mouths are the best bite on the main lake currently.

Please be courtesy to duck hunters using the shorelines/islands for their blinds.  More reports as conditions change (no longer weekly).  Check the forums for current reports, and please feel free to leave a report also.
