Oct 31st marks the last day to obtain a sturgeon spearing license for the Winnebago systems 2016 season. Permits must be acquired prior to the deadline to be eligible for the start of the season on Feb 13, 2016. There are no limits to the number of permits granted on Lake Winnebago, however the upper lakes are limited to 500 permits via a points system. In state residents can purchase the sturgeon permit for $20.
