The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region is encouraging the public to attend a meeting to discuss transportation improvements in the village of Winneconne. It will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. (short presentation at 5:15 p.m.) at the Winneconne Elementary School, 233 South Third Avenue. Topics of discussion will include the replacement of the Winneconne Bridge, construction of fishing piers (fishing from the new WIS 116 bridge will not be possible) and the reconstruction of WIS 116 in the village of Winneconne.

Additionally, with the tentative construction schedule, fishing shouldn’t be affected at least until start of construction in Summer 2017. Fishing would still be allowed from north side of existing bridge during 2017 and most of 2018 but south side fishing would be limited due to new bridge construction on that side. Likely that no fishing would be allowed for Spring/Summer of 2019 since existing bridge will be demolished and the new fishing piers will be in the process of being constructed.

If you are at all interested in the proposed new bridge and fishing piers in Winneconne and would like to get correct information please try and make the above meeting, and please share this info with anyone else who may have an interest.

Have a great remainder of the fall fishing season and be safe!
